OUR SUSTAINABILITY MODEL
The oils, waxes and essential oils are sourced from small, sustainable farmers around the world. The oils we use are not brokered for price from supplier to supplier. This ensures a consistent product and authentic relationships with the farmers.
We never dilute our moisturizers with water. Water in moisturizers is a filler to reduce the amount of active ingredients to benefit the producer. But this does not benefit the customer! When water is present the formula will automatically contain bactericides, emulsifiers and other fillers to make the oils and water mix together. The skin can get confused and be unable to utilize the botanicals as nourishment.
We never use fillers, emulsifiers, fragrances, chemicals, animal squalene/squalane, water, additives. Our products are either 100% plants or 100% plants plus beeswax. We use water in our Face Wash because it’s an integral part of the formula, not as a filler.
Our beeswax provider has been operating as a family business in Fairfield, Iowa since 1980. They also help others start up hives and educate on hive health and keeping bees alive and happy! None of the beeswax is imported. It is all produced in the USA.
Even though beeswax is not vegan, bees are responsible for pollinating the majority of fruits and vegetables grown organically. We need bees. Supporting their health is primary just like saving sharks!
Each ingredient used is only one or two steps from nature. We widely use cold-pressed plant oils, butter and waxes.
We never use highly processed additives that are cleverly categorized as “natural” such as fragrance oils, dextrin palmitate, hydroxides, laurates, vegan squalene or shark squalene—none of these ingredients is necessary in skin care except to make the product formula cheaper and more emollient. The skin can consider these processed ingredients as toxins and has to work to detox them.
On the other hand, plant oils are considered nutrition by the skin. Essential oils self-carry into the dermis and other layers to communicate health to the incoming and developing cells.
